prato of macinaie
Macinaie of Prato, along with Prato of Contesse are two of the most renowned near Castel del Piano. Two large green areas situated on the slopes of Monte Amiata, at about 1400 meters, in which green pine and beech dominate the territory. The area is known for winter sports, in fact there are lifts and stations arrival of the most famous tracks dell'Amiata. When necessary, the area has an opportunity to be even artificial snow. The hike in the area are also possible during the summer, where tourists can stay in a small hut of Capuchin Fathers. They are also wonderful sources of natural springs along the road that leads to St. Fiora and Seggiano, popular sources of nuns and Capovetra. From this "station", and you can follow some trekking routes reach the Summit, which is located behind the huge monumental cross, the statue of "Our Lady of the Scouts."
